A lot of Talent

Peter Callesen... That's all I have to say...

Read this:

Artist Peter Callesen proves he is a cut above the rest with these dainty models made using glue, a scalpel - and just one sheet of A4 paper.

Peter, 41, cuts intricate patterns from a white sheet of paper and uses the cutout to fold breathtaking designs such as skeletons, insects and buildings.

The precision work transforms a piece of paper worth only a few pence into a piece of art that sells for £2,800.

A Sad Christmas Spirit

K says it might be because I'm very pregnant and just don't have the "umph" to do the things I have always done this time of year. Then again this year I have taken up a lot more "to do's" than I have in the past and the decor just seems to be left behind. We have new lights up on our tree...that is about it. Just lights and a tree skirt that I never fully finished but looks finished. We have a couple wreaths up and some Christmas coasters hanging from one another up on the wall. We decorated the "Man Bowl" and put some greenery up on the mantel with some red candles. Other than that our place looks a little bare. I just don't have it in me for some reason...It's not that I don't feel the Christmas Spirit...it's just when I get off sleep calls to me now, instead of my to do list. K probably wouldn't even have a tree if it wasn't for me. He just isn't that into it all. We both find ourselves looking to next year when our lives will be full of little laughter and the buying of toys. Next year this and next year that... A lot is about to change that is for sure!

An Unfinished Object!

OK so whenever the end of the year comes around I get this overwhelming feeling to FINISH something, or everything. Like the beginning of the New Year should be started with a clean slate. The problem is I usually don't have a clean slate...or clean desk or clean sewing room! There are just too many unfinished things going on, some which have been going on for years with no end in sight. Here is a short list in no particular order:

Colorful Fair Isle Cardigan
Striped Baby Heel up socks
Baby booties
Pinwheel Quilt
Seven Sister Quilt
Red Wrap
Purple Lace Shawl
Parent's Anniversary Quilt
Bird Mobile
Tree Skirt
Anthropologie Cardigan

And much more which I can't think of at this moment! What to do? Take this holiday weekend and finish at least one thing! That would make me feel better!

Ski Cardigan

It's finished! It looks great and even covers the baby bump! I made it a size or so bigger just so I could wear it right away. It's oh so warm and was oh so easy, due to the steek and the easy colorwork. I love it! So glad it was finished before we leave for the parents next week. I'm probably gonna need it.
The pattern came from Classic Knits and the yarn is a Lion Brand yarn called chunky (I think). I have enough left over for a sweater for my son for next winter.

Hamster Dance Time!

I actually found this cute little hamster on a site that had a hundred or so fonts on it. It showed up as a tiny itty bitty little "wingding" hamster and K enlarged it for me. I loved it and just had to embroider it on a onesie for our little Tychan. He's gonna look adorable in this!

Sashiko Stitching

I've always loved everything Japanese, from the old prints to the new crazy harajuku fashions. I'm so happy that Japanese culture is becoming more popular in the states, mostly their crafts. There is just a certain standard of perfection to it all. I've never seen a Japanese craft I didn't like. I love this pillow. It's bright and simple yet beautifully executed.
